This is an astonishing game. I feel great pain for black.

1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 The famous Danish Gambit. 3... dxc3 4. Bc4 Nf6 5. Nf3 Nxe4 6. O-O Nd6 Anyone of us would protect that Bishop. 7. Nxc3 Nxc4 8. Re1+ Be7 9. Nd5 Nc6 10. Bg5 f6 11. Rc1 b5 12. Rxc4 bxc4 13. Ne5 fxg5 13...Nxe5 seem to be better here. 14. Qh5+ g6 15. Nf6+ Bxf6 16. Nxg6+ Qe7 17. Rxe7+ Bxe7?? 17...Nxe7 was called here. Now White has a forced Mate. 18. Ne5+ Kd8 19. Nf7+ Ke8 20. Nd6+ Kd8 21. Qe8+ Rxe8 22. Nf7# Mate!

For those that don't know how to/don't want to bother reading notation, go here.

Ninja edit: While you're there, check out the Wizard of Brooklyn game on the right side. We must set that one up, since I don't understand the ending (at 5 am).

God forbid this should happen to anyone. Damn that was some nice chess. I like how he disregarded the insignificant pieces and took his objective.

I almost ran this on a guy last night. He wasn't an inspired player, but it was still astonishing how easy it can be to run it.

Up to a point, avoiding it is possible. White just uses very tempting sacrifices to force black to that point.
